Anyone have any advice on a lower power spring for a gamo bigcat ?
I get a loud crack no matter what type of pellet I use...Trying to quiet it down a bit for the neighbors... |

| have you tried 10.5 grain pellets?? your gun shouldn't be too loud. .177 right? is it new? a springer takes a break in period. |

yes I have tried 10.5 crosman's and 16.1 eun juns...still loud as a .22
Big cat is about 6 months old with about 3500 rounds through it. accurate tack driver , just friggin loud. |

When you first said cracking, I thought light ammo, then it changed to dieseling. But since it has 3500 rounds through it, that is likely not it.
I assume you DO NOT lube the barrel or chamber? That could be your problem if you do, but unlikely since you retain accuracy.
You could always try a weaker spring. While you're inside her you might aswell tune it up too. |

doug. .22lr loud??? a .22 discovery is loud. my 392 is 3/4 as loud as a discovery.......springers are really quiet by comparison. especially your gamo.
a 12- 14fpe springer is very quiet. i'm questioning what you call loud. where i live loud doesn't fly. a gamo is a mouse fart in my yard. |

Its very easy....to reduce power lighten the traveling mass..
ie- piston /top hat....
to quiten..sleve your guides with nylon "smaller dia steel guides will be needed"
The two above will also make it as smooth as silk
A quick fix to quiten it is...put a thin nylon disc "3mm think" between
the top hat & inside of the piston....
Do all three and yer won't beleave its the same gun...
something like in the pics below

Sure did...They are for a Kral underlever "CFX copy"
It is so smooth...stand 10m away from it and its almost silent 
for a springer..
