Just wondering if most of you use an air rifle only, or use a 22 lr for small game?
I myself have always used a 22 lr, however this year the 22 lr will stay home!
Most shots I have taken at small game have been under 50 yards anyway. I like the mild report of the air rifle, and the limited range ( don't have to worry too much about the "bullet" going a mile plus into the next county).
Best

| Considering you are on an AIRGUN forum, I'm gonna' go ahead and say most of us use airguns. Although I used to use a 22LR myself back in the day, but I didn't have the airgun arsenal I had now, so that was probably why. |

| If 'small game' includes starlings that invade the property and keep people awake and crap all over the place- then I use a 12-gauge with #4 shot. Everything else is airgun, but I really don't 'hunt'- it's all mainly backyard pest control. |

It really depends on what I have with me at the time but if I'm actually planning on shooting something rather than just taking a target of opportunity, I'll take the Gamo out for rats and jays and one of my .22lrs for anything more substantial.
I have several .22lrs, a Ruger 10/22, Ruger 22/45 (pistol) AMT SGH (Steel frame copy of a 10/22 w/ bull barrel) and a conversion kit I can drop in either of my AR-15s. They've all taken game at some time or other. I've even killed sheep and goats with the 22/45. That's a bit much for a .177. |
