So there is this one bird that I see out in my yard every day. He goes to the normal feeding spot, but he is incredibly weary. He is very alert to any movement at the window, if I move the blinds one inch to peep out, he starts running, not flying, toward a fruit tree that is out of range from that shooting spot.
And the bastard watches me with his yellow eye as he runs over there, like "haha, you can't get me." He's slick too, because he jumps up in the base of the tree and blends in, then just kind of works his way up and then sneaks out from the back. He's done this a half dozen times now.
But I got a plan. Since I have two shooting windows on each side of the house, I'm going to have BOTH open next time and my airshotgun waiting. His weakness is that he thinks his escape route is safe and that he doesn't have to fly away. What I'll do is peak out the window real fast and if I see him, jump over to the preloaded shotty and stick it out the window and fire.
I'm up for a challenge, and I hate being outwitted by a bird. |

If you can't kill it it proves you got a bird-brain. |

I've tried to reload them before. I've put in a double load before (40 bbs in one shell!). I made a load last week with the little bbs that come in the tip of the gamo rockets (and that messed a bird up). But you cant really reload those shells properly without the stopper thing that pushes the bbs through the barrel. I usually just use foam pieces, but that is innefficient and I know I probably lose some serious fps when I do my own loads.
Although, yesterday I was practicing with the .22 cal pellets out of that thing and it was fairly accurate. But I'd rather have the spray if I'm shooting into the foliage of a tree. |

| It'll work if I set it up the way I said and the bird behaves in the same way as it has been. |

| Why do I have this feeling this plan should involve something labled "Acme xxxx Company" and the theme music to the Road Runner playing in the back ground??? |

Heh heh.
This plan could never work with any air rifle other than the air shotty. Because it involves hitting a running animal that may be obscured by debris. It's nice to have the air shotty in the repetoire. |

Roger. First off, peep out the little holes in the blinds where the strings go through.
Have you tried foam earplugs cut down in the bottom of your shell? They just came to mind when you said you use foam...
Leave the window open? Move to another window? |

Trust me. One step ahead of you there. That is actually what I used. I even put tape over one side to make it a flatter harder surface for the compressed air to push against.
Broom was right. The bird was out there again yesterday but I didn't get to shoot it. My frickin' roommate was home. The bird seemed slower too so I easily could've shot him.
But the beauty of this being in my own yard with the same bird is that time is on my side. All it is doing is establishing a habbit of doing this everyday. And each day it gets more comfortable and is lulled into a false sense of security. Patience will be what gets me this kill. |

Got him.
Didn't even have to get clever either. It was midday, and the birds can't see inside since it is so bright out. I used the 5G pistol with a gamo match pellet, and got him with one shot right in the upper chest. He ran a short distance and then flipped over dead. |
