I just found this on the internet.

It strikes me strange that one continent can support the above and another can be totaly against it. So the chances of them getting together over climate change or nuclear Proliferation seem a bit thin.

Hey Al, I was just about to post 'Funny Image of the Day' When I saw this!!

I like the fact that the UK can use suppressors on their Guns without a licence.

Though I'm not too sure when for example The USA cannot use suppressors without special licences/permits.

Maybe this is because the government likes to keep guns loud so if someone takes a shot in a built up area, People will come running to see what has happened, Though it's always the criminals that illegally get hold of suppressors and raise silent havoc, And spoil it for everyone else.

Too bad!

And as for climate change, If our leaders don't act now the world is doomed.

The laws in North America are, well, bizarre to say the least. In the U.S. there is no particular "reason" for which a silencer certificate/permit needs to have fulfilled- it's basically just an extra layer of bureaucratic double-checking. Any state/municipality where it is legal to carry around a gun can also have a suppressor/silencer if the BATF permit has been issued for it. Essentially, the idea is that the federal government gets to collect some more fees (i.e. cash in their pocket) and a criminal with a silencer but no permit can be charged with an additional offence if they are caught with it.

Canada, on the other hand calls a silencer a "prohibited gun" as if it were a full auto M16 or something. Get caught with one and you are almost guaranteed jail time. Canada is at the extreme end of the spectrum on gun control- it appears the politicians are working at an increasingly feverished pitch to try and ban ALL handguns *(except of course for law-enforcement types), and owning/possessing "long guns" requires permits, registration, etc. etc.

The stupid part to all of this of course is that the actual criminals don't give a rat's a$$ about what gun "law" says- they will get them, use them and dispose of them as they always have. All these bizarre laws are what I call "lemming laws" to get people to follow one another off the end of the cliff for no good reason. As anyone who ever pays real attention to this- gun and violent crimes tend to be the lowest in areas where average, law-abiding citizens are allowed to openly carry handguns. The crooks just go somewhere else where their chances of being shot by a regular Joe in the middle of committing a crime is lower. Don't tell the "Helen Lovejoy's" (a la The Simpsons tv show) of the world this- neither rhyme nor reason can be understood above their shrill cries for more laws.

Silencers everywhere would make a lot of sense in respect to privacy. You know if I break out even a Magnum-level airgun and shoot it in the middle of the night to eliminate a pest- a neighbor will be woken up and be none too happy about it.
