Just curious.
I don`t like to keep my gun loaded for more then a min or so.
But sometimes I think I might be wasting amo.
Sometimes I load the gun and wait for a target to come.
So my question is how long is ok to leave it loaded between shots.
I have a Crosman g1 extreme break barrel .
Thanks in advance. |

A few days probably won't do any significant damage, but avoid leaving it for a few months.
I am assuming here you mean "cocked" not "loaded" as leaving it uncocked but with a pellet in the barrel is no issue whatsoever. |

The difference between loaded and cocked is a pellet. In reality I wouldn't leave it cocked for more than 2 hours with at least a 15 minute break. If needed leave it cocked all day, but do so reluctantly.
You really aren't supposed to leave springers cocked for more than 30 minutes, but SOME tests showed that even after a month or so the gun(s) were shooting almost the same as before testing.
Leaving your gun cocked and loaded is a different story, mainly the safety issue. I personally don't leave my guns cocked and loaded unless I'm back in the shop, so as not to have to fumble for ammo and such. In the house it is decocked (some guns can't do this) but kept loaded. Some may say this is a safety issue on its own because the gun is still "loaded", but pulling the trigger would result in nothing but a click. |

i never leave a springer cocked for more than 10 minutes. but mine are chinese and cheap. i'm sure a highend (beeman, airarms) is a different story. when hunting i keep a pellet in it so i only have a fast cock (no pun intended ) then i'm ready to go.
i dont' know about your rifle but my springers can all be de-cocked in the event i don't take a shot. |

| I usually decock the Benji and leave that pumped and loaded. Since it doesn't take much effort or make that much noise I often don't even keep it cocked hunting. |

Midichlorian, don't bother worrying about when you're hunting, You'll find something to shoot at within 30 min anyways. |

Thanks everyone.
I`m very happy to know that leaving it cocked for 5 or 10 min will due no damage to the air rifle.
This will save me money on pellets. |

| Aside from the spring damage issue, I would say It's OK to have the gun cocked and loaded as long as it's in your hands and under your direct control. |

| I like to conserve my ammo, and keep the critters in close. |
