Anyone use this program? If so, maybe you can help me out.
With Chairgun2, when you enter the data for a specific pellet,
including the muzzle velocity, it automatically calculated the energy, etc..
Then, if you changed pellets, it automatically changed the velocity to
account for the heavier, or lighter, pellet.
With Chairgun3, I enter the pellet and velocity, then when I change
to a heavier pellet, the velocity remains the same. Doesn't it calculate
the new velocity according to the new weightier pellet like Chairgun2 did?
Or am I just missing something basic here. (which would not surprise me
a bit, I might add)
Thanks for your help. |

| Does it keep the old velocity and calculate the new energy? I'm guessing it should do that... I still have CG2. |

It will calculate the new energy. So, use a pellet that you know the velocity for in your gun put in the vel and the pellet data, which will give you the energy. Write down the energy for each gun you own. Now when you change pellets the energy will change, so plug in the power/energy of your gun and press enter, then the velocity will update.
I'm guessing that you can prob adjust the settings to update whichever field you would prefer, but I haven't checked it out. I just do what i described above. |

Yes Fritz,
It calculates the new energy, but retains the old velocity. What I liked
about CG2 is that when you selected a different pellet, EVERYTHING,
changed. Even the graphs.
With CG3, you select the new pellet, and ONLY the BC and the energy
change. Everything else stays the same, even the POI graph.
I don't get it.
Aircube, if i have to select a pellet that I already know the FPS for, then
it kind of defeats the purpose. At least with CG2, I could chrony one
pellet and get hard numbers. Then use the program to sort of project]
what kind of performance I could get with other pellets. I can't seem
to do that with CG3. I'm a little disappointed.
OR, maybe I just haven't discovered how to run the program properly
yet. That's always a possibility. |

Same deal, different constant, I was surprised as well, I thought I could enter different pellets and it would spit out new fps, but it changed the energy, so I change the energy back to the power of my gun and press enter and th fps will update but the pellet weight will stay constant.
So, select a pellet you know like a crosman primeir HP 14.3g and plug it in with the vel in fps from your chrono, say 730fps, this will give you your energy let say 16.93 ft/lbs. Now change the pellet from the database to a RWS hobby and the energy changes to 13.97 ft/lbs @ 730 fps. Enter your power for that rifle (16.93) in the energy and press enter and the muzzle vel will go up to 804 fps. Right?
Now, go to tools > optomize OZR >Trajectory and the chart will update.
Thats how I have been doing it. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, b/c i just taught myself. |

Thanks Aircube,
Gotta tell ya... why should I do all that? I'm goin' back
to CG2. I can't figure why the the developers of this great
program would do this.
Ah.... live & learn, I guess.
Thanks again, |
