In another thread, fritz mentioned a preference for screw-on pellet tin lids:
http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=2925&start=15

Get a bicycle tube from the junkyard, and cut bands with scissors. They can be as wide as you want. They also resist oil and abrasion better than regular rubber bands. 27"X1.25" works for the small .177 tins. I haven't had a lid come loose for years.

Or the manufacturer could just sell you a quality tin.

Yup, I cracked open a fresh tin of .22 RWS hollowpoints on the picnic table shooting range. Ole butter fingers here drops the tin and there go 500 fresh pellets into the grass.

Thankfully they didn't get dirty, so I just picked them up.

I use the RWS hollow point field line pellets. (for hunting squirrl)
Open them at home on the hobby table and then pour what I feel I need for the day into an old Crosman tin.

Had mine two weeks and dumped ~500 RWS superdomes...luckily on concrete garage floor so easy to recover.

Bouncing Smoker

I have an old Crosman plastic box. It has a good snap lid on it, that doesn't get crushed. Works well for on the picnic table or what not, but can be noisy and slow in the field. For that I made a duct-tape pouch that slips on my belt.

When I got my Super Streak it came with 50 CPH in a little rubber pouch that opens when squeezed. This is OK, but very hard to get a pellet out with one hand.

I noticed the tins on Predator pellets are real bad for this.I just put pellets that have funky tins,in either my old crosman or Gamo tins etc. Those little cylinders with the pop tops that the Gamo PBA's come in are handy in the field as well. The pellets are over priced garbage but the container works good...... Pyramyd is now selling rubber bands sized for the different tins.

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/Pyramyd_Air_Bands/3071

Personally, I think they should give them out as an incentive for customers purchasing a set number of tins.

At any given time I probably have 6-8 tins open; though I just wrap them in rubber bands perpendicular to the top and bottom rather than around the circumference.
