I like using emery boards on my airgunsmithing projects (the kind you use for manicures). They're cheap, they fit into small recesses, they're stiff enough to do flat surfaces, and they bend enough to do curves.

The example shown is steel water pipe.

My wife tells me that they come in various grits from coarse to very very fine. Hmm... roughing work to final detailing and finishing... very handy Exclamation

Good idea Slavia, I often need a bit of emery when in the house, now I can borrow the wife nail kit with out going down to the workshop. Thumb Up!

I wonder what you can come up with for lipstick. Lapping past possibly Laughing

While I don't have the M.S.D.S. handy, I think lipstick is technically a hazmat. Used anywhere but on the wife's lips and it will surely migrate to your person, which will raise hazardous questions.

On the other hand, there is K-Y gel. I have shrouds on my guns made from 1/2" black vinyl tubing. You heat the tubing in boiling water to soften it so it will stretch, and lubricate with that stuff. Slicker than snot on a glass doorknob.

Mineral oil is good for wiping down blued metal. In a pinch baby oil will work, but you have to decide for yourself if that "baby fresh scent" belongs on a gun. And don't forget fingernail polish - it could save you a trip to the store for Loctite.

Back to the emery boards - they usually come with a coarser and finer grit on the two sides. My favorite is Revlon, since it runs a little finer overall than other brands. Lacrosse is cheaper, but coarser.
