After shooting my .22 Disco for almost a year now and being very happy with its performance in both power and accuracy I had the opportunity to trade one of my rifles for a .177 cal. Discovery(which I did).It was used as a test bed rifle to make muzzle breaks from Rich From Mich a local tuner here in Michigan.According to Rich it was box stock,, shot about 15 times to make sure his muzzle breaks fit and worked.
So when I received it last week I went over it real good,Rich included one of his new Breaks/LDC's and a second barrel band added up front to stabilize the barrel once the front sight is removed to install LDC and I added one of my Bug Buster scopes..
I must say it is a very accurate rifle.Maybe a little better than my .22 as I never got one hole shots with it at 10 meters off a bench..
I sighted it in monday night at our local sportsman club and used it to qualify for my Bar4 on my way up the ladder on the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Course for Sharpshooter.
I must say its a lot lighter than the FWB 300S I was shooting and just as accurate at 10 meters. Its a keeper for sure. Now I'll have to dolly it up a little like I did the .22.
In short if anyone is wondering which one is best flip a coin heads you win tails you win!! The .22 is a truly accurate powerful hunter and the .177 is darn near a match rifle. The stock trigger pull I got with a fish scale was 2.3 LBS.Not bad for a factory trigger.NO CREEP!

I shot this target off a bench testing pellets. 5 shots @ each target.
Top row = 7.0 RWS Basic Line (yes there 5 shots here,rt.target)
Center row = 7.9 gr.Crosman Wadcutters
Bottom row = 7.0 gr. RWS Hobbies.

If you or anyone else gets the time,I would like to see some target group results from the .22 disco.Im going to buy a disco very soon and am having a hard time choosing between the .177 or .22,you say the .177 is more accurate,Im just wondering how much more accurate. This is the most valuable info I have found on the Benjamin Disco so far. Thanks for posting |

This one was a 60 shot off hand target I shot while testing out my Mountain Air power adjuster.I was shooting 14.3 CR Wadcutters @ around 770 FPS at a little over 40 feet. That is as slow as I can get her to shoot, but get 60 good shots on a 2300 psi. fill.It will shoot @ 990FPS with a heaver hammer spring turned up to high with the same pellets.
The most accurate pellets I'v found that mine likes is the Predators they will shoot one ragged hole shots at 20 yards.
But I only get 35-40 good shots that way.

Excellent, thank you very much for your time and effort to post such valuable informatiom.Do you have any advice for maintenance for Discovery rifles?Lube requirements, storage tips(with or without air)and how long can I leave the rifle fully charged with air without doing damage?I keep hearing talk of adding a barrel band.Is that a must do mod?I have heard of berrel flex with these rifles, not quite sure what that is,but you guys adding a barrel band makes me think theres something to it.The barrel flex or whatever is the only thing bad anyone has had to say about these rifles and I have read every article of information I can find on the web. Thanks for the info and if you know of any good articles, threads or reviews on Discovery rifles, feel free to post the link |
