I'm using to seeing 10m air pistol, which I believe is an Olympic distance. Are there other distances you would be likely to see at a competition?

Part of the reason I ask is that I've seen a 5m target, which would be good for me as I have 5 meters available in my garage. 10m requires my backyard which is almost exactly 10m deep at its deepest (and leaves me a safe background). I prefer shooting in the garage, esp. as I usually only have time at night.

I suppose it doesn't really matter to have fun, but I'm toying with someday getting into competitive shooting and would like to practice at appropriate distances.

Smoothbore BB guns are shot at 5 meters - that's about all I can think of:

Try taking a 10m pistol target and printing it out at 50% (scaled for 5m). The angular displacement will be the same as at 10m, but the pellet holes will be 2X too big.

Hi jleecbd welcom to Airgunhome

We use 5m for pistol and 10m meter for rifles, and the reason for this is that it's often to cold to shoot outside in winter, whereas most people have 5m indoors.

If your intrested give it a go

Al

Thanks! For me its a darkness and wind problem. Now I just need to get a bigger trap to take 8 1/2 x 11 targets, as I've saved a few of the 5m targets I've found.
