I have just serviced my TX re lubricated it new seal etc and put the out put up to 11.3flb, shot about 50 pellets through it using a crony, anyway I cocked it and was looking around for some more pellets and got distracted by something, anyway I closed the breach and fired. BANG! Bloody hell I nearly fell off the chair, I realised straight away that there was no pellet in the gun, so I loaded up again fired and the output was erratic and down to around 9flb.

There was a smell of burnt oil so I took it apart and every thing seemed ok, the seal and piston were like new although there was traces of oil in the compression cylinder, so I rebuilt it and the power was still down so I ordered a new spring and seals , I can’t think of any thing else that would cause the drop in power.

When the new spring and seals arrived I fitted them and gave it a try, the power was back where it was before the dry firing, as you can see in the photo the new spring is a bit longer than the old one, now whether this is because the old spring had done 30000 shots or because of the dry firing, or a combination of both I don’t know.

That is weird, most guns can take a dry fire just fine. It's just something you shouldn't do on purpose.
