| Hello all I am new to air guns just picked up a rws panther pro compact in 177. Picked that after reading many post on this site. Is there are special type of ammo I need to use. Thanks for all your help. Mike. |

welcome to the forum!!!
just like any air rifle, its going to have its own preference to what ammo it shoots most accurately. buy some of the sampler packs available, and test them. every gun is different. |

Ignore Roger- he's being an idiot. Don't put BB's anywhere near the rifle.
Dummyracer is right- every airgun has it's own "preference" as to what pellets it shoots best with- even two rifles made on the same day in the same factory could prefer two entirely different pellets- it's really a trial and error situation.
As mentioned, you could try a sampler pack (RWS and I believe Gamo have them) as well as a few different varieties of "cheap" pellets like Daisy or Crosman and see how they work- some guns shoot quite well with the lowest-end pellets available, strangely enough.
As a first airgun- the 34 is a good choice- doesn't break the bank and gives you an idea of how an airgun performs without it being a throwaway item.

| Just realized you posted this in the Hunting area- so if hunting is your main purpose for the 34, stick to pointed, round-nose or hollow point pellets- flat/wadcutters are for target shooting. |

Don't forget about the pellet weight...
Here is a little illustration of the Beeman Kodiaks the Brown Santa delivered today...
When hunting you want the most effective penetration and then expansion…
On the Left… Crosman Premier Hollow Points… Weighing in at 14.3 Gr.
On the Right… Beeman Kodiaks Weighing in at 21.1 Gr.
All shot from my DI Bulked 2250 w/20” barrel.
20 yards to the swinging steel targets…
Notice how well the Kodiaks expanded and still managed to stay together… Where as the Crosman’s all most totally fell apart…
I’m happy with the Kodiaks… even with the un-favorable weather out side …
Since I am using Co2… I used a ACE Hot/Cold pack wrapped around the gas tube to keep it warm in the 41º F weather… |

too many guns that don't shoot them accurately. At least, I
haven't found one. Their extra weight can kill the spring quickly
in an underpowered springer though. |

| Agree with everything said so far. About the only thing I can add is, don't fall for the hype around certain pellets that promise increased velocity. Gamo's golden pellets being the most notible of these, other companies are now making simlar product. Unless you get them free, like I did, I'd avoid these. |

I will put these away for the winter... With out the warmer... I could not get enough pressuer from the Co2 to get them to fly straight...
Even a 50 psi drop... well you get it... I need to switch out to HPA... |

| They weigh the same as Kodiaks, 21.3 grain average. At least that's the average of the sleeve that I bought. |
