| Has anyone had problems with repeatability with the Gamo Whisper (spring, .177)? I can zero it to 2" groupings on a good day but take it out of the soft case a few days later and it is grouping 4 or five inches off, usually in windage. It can take 30 or 40 clicks to get back to zero. I've tightened everything on the scope and rail. Could it be break barrel designs are inherently loose? The gun and scope are box stock except for a sweet GRT-III trigger. Thanks, guys. |

I had a similar problem with my Gamo Big Cat. I swapped out the Gamo scope that came with it and replaced it with the cheap Ruger scope that came on an Airhawk. The problem is now gone. I get 1/4" groups at 12 yards when I'm up to it, and Point of Impact doesn't budge between sessions. I don't know if this is typical with the Gamo scopes or if I just got a lemon. I'm saving up for a better scope, variable power and with a bigger exit pupil for low light situations.
You might consider getting a hard case to protect your gun. Even a cheap one is better than a soft case. Make sure it fits before you buy it. Mine just barely fits the Big Cat scoped. |

My Big Cat hammered the stock scope so badly that the reticule actually moved inside the scope. It would do the exact same thing as what you are describing, sighted dead on, then a couple of days later bring it back out and it's shooting 2-4 inches off the last zero.
Also saving to replace, most likely try one of the leapers, as I have read they can take a beating, and apparently the Cat beats them to death. I am aware that most springers are tough on scopes, but the Gamo scopes just seem to fall apart quickly. I bought both of my kids the Recon model, and both of their scopes bit the dust within a month.

New scope.
Also check the screws holding the stock on. |

| You guys were right on about the scope issue. I strapped on a Walther 4x32 designed for pellet rifle shocks (in both directions, rather than straight back as with powder charges) and I am back to 1 for 1. Couldn't find any Leapers. Thank you for your spot on insight. |
