| cw, the one trueism that actually holds true is the delusion "liberials" or "progressives" have of their own superiority. I doubt you have any idea for example of the "types of books" I read, or the experinces I've had or am open to. Though I have no doubt you think you do. |

I'm not sure I understand if either of you are serious or screwing around.
After watching/listening to that presentation, and ignoring the "liberal" pretense of superiority that may have been present with the speaker, I believe the overall message or at least observation that was in there was that people, right/left, conservative/liberal, whatever- really aren't "wired" all that differently. There is some amount of hard-wiring in everyone's brain, some with conservative leanings, some with liberal- but individual experience plays into it as well.
What was the conclusion? I believe that, and this may just me be optimistic or living in some sort of fantasy; that people can work together and their differences in viewpoint can be melded, at least somewhat, to this cooperative effort to benefit everyone. I.e. both conservative and liberal viewpoints have their merits and the great "finding the moral center" idea is only sensible. All this talk of 'x' vs. 'y' and beating one another over the head because of these opposing viewpoints is, ultimately, counter-productive. Of course, if some people's head are too thick to ever be able to envision something different other than repeating either conservative or liberal dogma without due consideration of the other parties' view- then we all have a problem. |

Myself I'm sort of "humorously serious". The most humorous thing is the liberial conviction of their own superiority. |

EXACTLY! I think that everyone would be a LOT better off
if the people worked stuff out WITHOUT the polititians.
People can do it.
Just like when you go to work. All of the places that I
used to work at when I was in the daily grind, had republicans
and democrats working as a team. I was an auto tech (mechanic)
for decades and everyone got along and worked together and we kicked
a$$ and put out a lot of product every day regardless of
political orientation. They had to, or they would soon feel the
tap of a pinkslip holding service manager on their shoulder. |
