I bought this Crosman G1 off the closeout rack at Walmart. $70.00 seemed O.K. for a project gun, so why not. Except the scope was as useful as tits on a boar. (I here refer to the Almighty's original intent for mammalian accessories, with no prurient references whatsoever.) The scope doesn't match any of Crosman's "CenterPoint" offerings, and is not labeled as such. I wonder if the big box retailers get a cheaper version.
The scope is AO, but wouldn't focus past 25 yards. I made a key out of a used saber saw blade and turned the inner adjusting ring until it would focus (and be parallax free) at 100 yards. The calibrations on AO bells are almost always useless, so I made my own.
The scope caps are also from Walmart's clearance rack. The front one was a little too big, but two layers of bicycle inner tube fixed that.
The rings for the blinder holder and level came from the same source. I paid full retail for the level ($3.00 for three vials).
The adjusting knobs are from Radio Shack.
I can hit a BBQ propane tank at 100 yards, so it has promise. So far I've polished the muzzle crown and sleeved the barrel in vinyl tubing, but that's all.

Heh, it would be cool to actually start a workshop that's located in both the States, as the Netherlands. |

The two later photos seem to load just fine - but not the first one. So, El Cheapo, take two.
I deleted the duplicate up above.

What is the function of this clamp between the front scope clamp and
the adjustment turret block?

Aha! Notice it's got the Crosman name on it- not CenterPoint. My suspicion? These were units Crosman thought of/started buying before deciding on a name change for the scopes ("CenterPoint")- there was never an 'AO' model with the Crosman name on it offered for sale.
-And what's the easiest way to unload a pile of crap they overbought? Sell it to Walmart in a package... |

That's pretty bad when you consider a $70 scope "el cheapo". Since my best scope is a big leapers 5th gen with multi colored illuminated reticle and it was slightly cheaper than yours!
No, el cheapo is the little tasco $15 scope at walmart. One of which I am using on one of my AG's. The objective is small but it reminds me of those little WWII scopes with 1.5 magnification. Of course, this scope has 3-7 magnifcation and actually works pretty good despite its short comings. I have it on my crappiest rifle too, so no love lost there. |

It was $70.00 for the package - gun plus scope.
What is the function of the extra clamp? It holds a blinder so I can shoot with both eyes open (without struggling). |

Still playing. I had to use three layers of bicycle inner tube to fit the clearance-rack objective flip-up cover, and it looked like heck. So on to "plan B" - a piece of PVC pipe. (I'm too cheap to go buy one that actually fits.) Then it came to me that the only difference between a spacer and a sun shield is where I make the second cut. So be it.
Some sources say the only way to adjust scope position is with a collimator. Others want you to buy their fancy-dancy magnetic levels. One source says "just adjust it so it looks like the vertical reticle bisects the compression tube." The sticky here says to shoot it and look for azimuth variance.
Since I had 2/3 of my $3.00 Walmart level left, I went for the level. Besides, gadgets are good, right? The only really flat place on the G1 is the side of the breech block, and a Dremel helped me carve up the level so it would fit. I aligned the reticle and scope level against a plumb line, and then aligned the breech block level against the scope level.
So now it shoots without azimuth error, the reticle appears to bisect the tube, and it "feels" right when I hold it. And since I have two functioning scope caps, I also had a place to put windage and elevation data.
