Been having a little fun with my "new to me" compound drill press with milling vise...
My favorite is the one on the 1077... It changes the tone to a pop.
The recoil is straight back with almost no barrel lift.
Some of you have seen this one before I blued it...
I went ahead and re-blued the barrel to match...
The 4 on the bottom are for sale if any are intrested...

| Say Pop, How much would you charge me if I wanted one of those for my Xs-B4-2a?,,I really like the way the front sight is kept on,,sort of remind's me of what "Mendoza" does with their gun's, as well as "Browning" and their .22's(rimfire). Beautiful work, Keep it up. Cheer's, Andy. |

Hi Joe
Cracking job with those muzzle breaks and with your new toy even more impressive, they look like they are made out of steel, am I right ?, if so it’s nice to see someone using something other than aluminium.

Yes indeed they are made out of high tensile steel.
I wanted barrel protection and to use "old School" gunsmith techniques for a "Non Production" look and feel..
The Drill press & milling table are used to set the pattern and for drilling the Perforated style.
However I'm getting tired of waking up with the "Sand" in my eyes from all that grinding. I probably will go get some new milling bits and start doing the fluting & notching on the press...
This is a list of the hand work that goes into making the breaks:
• Cutting the tubing. (Chop Saw)
• Tigg welding the tip.
• Hand fluting on the fin style. (Die Grinder & Rotory Tool)
• Cutting the notch for the sight. (Die Grinder)
• Cleaning up the weld. (Roloc Wheel w/ Medium Sanding Disc)
• De-burring. (Rotory Tool & Hand Files)
• Crowning the tip. (Rotory Tool)
• Light surface prep. (Roloc Sanding Disc then Fine Surface Prep. Disc)
• Wet Sanding. (Wet & Dry Paper)
• Internal polishing. (Rotory Tool)
• Chemical dipped & degreased.
• Hand blued 1st coat.
• Buffing (steel wool)
• Hand blued 2nd coat.
Once I get my lathe fixed... another $500 for parts... I will be experimenting with some thicker stock for the design factor... How ever I do like the slim look of the ones I am working on right now... I am just limited to a select Internal Diameter of the metal stock that I can get my hands on...
Curently I have .625"/16mm I.D. in stock
Thank you for the compliments...
Joe |

Don't let having only one I.D. available bother you - I've done this a couple of times, and I like the I.D. a little big. It gives me space to insert a split collar. That way my setscrews bear against the collar and don't dig into the barrel itself.
Multiple layers of heat-shrink tubing make a nice shim to center the brake and keep it from wiggling around.

This, of course, is the result of redirecting the sound. An actual reduction of sound energy would land you square in the middle of a ton of legalities -

I like the muzzle breaks with the holes. I bet they would look great on my Airmagnum. |

Well folks...
I am working on my Moanalisa Muzzle Break for my 1077...
Allmost ready for bluing...
I like the open end... But I can't decide if I am going to cap it or not...
This is a smothie break for a Customer of mine... It's ready for polishing...
I found out the hard way that my new to me press... once you add a Live End maxed out @ 7" round stock... Sorry guys... That is the maximum length that I can produce till I get my lathe fixed... |

Well I got quite a bit done today till I burned my fingers...
Still got a ways to go... That fore grip is going to get slimmed down...
What do you think... Stain the wood black or go natural???
