Turkey Season
1) Target to download and print: Week 37; May/19>May/25/2008

Print to full-size on an A4 or 8.5"x11" sheet of paper.
2) Shooting distance is 5m/16.4ft for pistols.
3) Shooting distance is 10m/32.8ft for rifles.
4) Any sighting device may be used.
5) NO rests or steadying aids are allowed.
6) 20 shots at targets, 1 per turkey.
5 sight in/practice shots not on the clock using red.
7) 15 minutes total time (take whatever amount of time for each shot you like, but at 15 minutes-stop!).
8) Scoring is 10 points for a turkey neck shot, 1 point for a turkey body shot, SUBTRACT 20 points for a ram out of season.
Only one shot per turkey counts. Maximum point count is 200.
9) Entries need to be scanned or photographed and posted. Please list gun, pellet, sighting device and total time expended.
10) You can enter using both pistol and rifle as separate entries- but all rules must be followed for each.
11) Score your own target. Winner and Runner-Up will be verified by board officials.
12) This is an honorable contest for sport- if you lie or cheat, you are the only one who really loses. Please keep it above-board!
13) Each competition runs from Monday to Sunday. Your entry must be posted in the forum no later than 23:00 GMT Sunday.
14) These rules are for this week's shooting competition and may change for others.

What if you shoot a .22 pellet and it takes out the WHOLE turkey do you get 12 points?

I figured that billandbeaufort would practice, and that I'd need an edge. So I got out the Daisy Model 99 (father of the Avanti Model 499, "the world's most accurate BB gun." (See http://www.daisy.com/breeze.html?breeze_article=avanti499)

Gun: Daisy Model 99 (Second model with the spring feed magazine)
Sights: Aperture front/rear
Range: 5 meters, standing, unsupported, indoors
Projectile: Gamo "Rounds"
Time: 7 Minutes
Score: 0/200

(Note to the judges: There are two shots that came very close, but I can't see that the shots broke the outline of the turkey, so I'm calling them misses).

Until next week, billandbeaufort. In the mean time try: http://www.i-kirk.info/misc/quickkill/qwikill.htm (military use of the lever action Daisy).

Slavia, This target doesn't show up well when posted so you can't see my two points that I scored. I did the oposite of you, I scored them even though it could have been seen as a miss! OK you have a slight edge in the morals department,LOL The red ryder was on "hell just shoot in that direction mode" 2 lucky hits that's all. Even the Rams were small! Shocked

Slavia, WOW cool links, thanks. I'll bet you'd like to get your hands on one of those "M-16" Daiseys! Don't you just know that those recruits at Fort Polk had to have shot at each other on purpose once in a while? We had a below the waist rule for our BB gun battles when I was a kid! Laughing

Pellet: R-10 Match 7 gr wadcutter
Open iron sights
2-handed @ 5 meters
Time: 10 min 54 sec
Score: 66/200

The bottom left turkey may be a 10---I leave it up to the judges. I checked it with a magnified gauge and it looked good but...?

Where do you get these targets?!?
