Ok here it goes. I bought a RWS P5 Magnum Pistol .I also purchased a scope rail that mounts where the rear sight is attached. There are 2 small philip screws that hold the rear iron sight to the action.
To mount the scope rail you must remove this rear sight and replace it with the scope rail. This pistol was manufactured in December of 2004.
For some reason I can not get these two screws to turn.I have tapped on them with a jewlers philip screwdriver and a small lay-out hammer, soaked them with laquer thinner in case there was red locktite on them.Still no luck on breaking them loose.
Has anyone ever removed these two little scews successfully without destroying the screw heads? If so how in the hell did you get them out?
Thanks for any help.

The name of the forum that you posted your "Rear sight removal RWS P5 Magnum Pistol" question into is called "AirGunHome Q&A", To my understanding the Posts in this forum are to do with the site AirGunHome.com in general, not to do with Airguns.
Best check with AirGunEric just to be sure though!

One of the screws on this one broke, so I had a Weaver shroud built for it. Much better now.

Hey Bob, I've got one of these too, but I'll have to check it tonight and see if I can remove the screws just for shits and giggles. I've gotten used to the open sights on it and mainly use it as an up close finishing gun rather than a target shooter or hunting pistol, so I have no intention of putting a scope on it myself.
I'll take a look tonight and let you know. |

I'll just try another forum where people are not so touchy as to where you ask a question.

Sorry Bob... I never intended it that way, I was just making sure everyone was aware of the purpose of the AirGunHome Q&A forum, I apologise if I came over a little too strong as I did rush it.
Hope you get those screws out soon!

They may be brazed rivets. I had to drill out the one that wasn't broken |

Could you TIG a scope base to the compression tube? |

I know welders that TIG well enough, but don't know of steel bases available.
All the bases I have and know of, are aluminum. Don't know a safe welding process to join aluminum to steel though . . . |

RWS did a great job of making that model virtually impossible to modify OR shoot accurately. I still use mine from time to time though in certain situations. |

Mine has an Airguntoys Weaver base shroud wearing a Millett with Millett Angle-Loc rings. Groups about 1" @ 30m with a few different quality pellets. I like it
