the Qb 78 was modled after the crosman 160 right? what stops the qb from shooting as fast as the 160?

You need to be more specific- but the sake of argument I will assume you mean the QB-78 and the Crosman Model 160.
Other than the fact they are both Co2 rifles and they both use two Co2 cartridges at the same time- think it's a stretch to suggest that the QB is based on the 160- especially so as there was 30+ years between when the 160 was discontinued and the QB developed.
Either way- any Co2's output is derived from the size of the Co2 pathway from the caplet(s) to the pellet- including the tubing and the valving. You want more power- increase their size. Unfortunately, sometimes this can't be done easily if a whole new custom valve must be built to accomplish the purpose. |

but...the QB 78 is a copy http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2006/11/qb78-copy-of-crosman-160167.html read it a little bit
read the part on the 160, then the part titled QB 78 its a copy....
this also explains why to repalce 160 parts you can use qb78 parts ONLY some of them though |

Tim Miller has a .22 cal QB78 shooting 730fps with cp at 68° F, which is better than the original 160 could do.
Mac1 was tuning 25+fpe QB78 many years ago. |

| Its not really that hard to up the power on a qb78. New tp seal, open up the flow through bolt, take out the fiber filter and the screen in the valve. Just that will put you at around 600. |

My QB-78Deluxe is shooting close to 750fps w/ Beeman Lasers, and with Skenco type 1's(11gr.) it's shooting 900fps, and with 9gr. Prometheus Hunter's it's shooting 955fps. Before I had it modded it was shooting close to 600fps w/ Beeman Lasers,GAMO has "Raptor PBA's" in .22 coming out in another month, I don't know how much they'll be weighing at, but I have a feeling between 9-10gr,.and I can't wait to see how they perform in my QB(all of my .22 shooter's for that matter) I really like my QB-78D, it has to be one of my favourite shooter's, It's just about level performance wise w/ my TAC1 just more accurate at distance, Cheer's, Andy.
