I am looking to make some additions to my slavia 630. I was hoping to put on a scope and any other suggestions would be great. I understand it isnt easy to install a scope on the gun, so if you have done it please let me know how. Thanks

Here's some tuning tips (for performance):

http://www.airgunhome.com/agforum/viewtopic.php?t=135

The 630 and the 630 are nearly identical- so these instructions/idea are fairly interchangeable.

As for adding a scope- you can machine a groove in the barrel tube (not easy, especially for a guy in his garage without the right equipment), or using a mount system that attaches to the barrel- like rings that can be wrapped under the tube (some cutting of the stock might be required for them to fit properly), or barrel attached rings to hold a projecting Red Dot (i.e. one where you don't have to be 3" from the sight to your eye to use) forward of the stalk.

I'm sure some of the 630/631 experts will come around here with some more tips. If you have any questions about the tuning- post it here as well!

May I correct you, eric:

There is a 13 MM rail. You can buy 13 MM mounts. I use Sportmatch Mounts and a 4 X 32 scope. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Be sure to attach it well, because I've had a slight movement in the scope after tuning my 630.

About tuning: for an ultra light trigger (I like that, completely optional and some people like a predictable two stage trigger or something, I like light and unpredictable, comes with the fire-arm training) you will have to remove the adjustable "spring" from the trigger.

For the rest, give it a proper lube-tune. That works well. You don't need much to make it a better gun. And don't expect miracles. A Slavia isn't a gun that should be over-tuned. Keep it simple.

Edit: It might be a good idea to put a scope-stop on the rail.

I've been having a bad couple of days paying attention, apparently! I also have a typo in my post above "the 630 and the 630 are nearly identical"- noooo, really? Imagine that. Confused I had meant to say "630 and 631".

Not sure what I was thinking about no scope rail- maybe one of the 61x guns(?)

Mistakes aren't a sin. You're probably right about the older Slavias without a scope rail as a lot of older airguns come without one. I wouldn't know. They don't really catch my interest as I don't really own one. Mr. Green

The 13 mm scoperail is a bit of an oddity though, as most scoperails on european rifles are 11 mm.

I had that a few days ago, it must be an "Airborn" virus.
