This may be a dumbazzed Newbie question, but I am in need of some info. I have an RWS 177cal. Bought some good quality pellets to try on hardshell turtles. One in 8.2gr and another in 11.57gr. The lighter pellet impacts from 4 to 6 inches lower than the heavier one. I expected just the opposite.
Point me to a discussion or source for an explanation? |

Not unusual.... It could be a recoil effect (the heavier pellet stays in the barrel longer, recoil raising the muzzle).... or more likely a harmonic vibration in the barrel resulting in the muzzle pointing in a different direction (elevation) as the pellet exits....

Good point. I considered the time in bore aspect but just couldn't wrap my mind around it.
Thanks |
