The other day when we had a hot day I spent the day shooting in the back garden, went in for lunch and when I came out the gun would not fire looking at the pressure gauge it was registering around the 1000 psi mark, luckily I have a variable power adjuster fitted, so I turned it up to max hoping it would clear the valve lock, pulled the trigger and BANG! One hell of a noise even with a silencer fitted, The Crony recorded 16 flb which is 4 flb over the UK limit.

After that the gun was very erratic regarding power output. So a strip down was called for as I hadn’t done anything to it for over a year, inside the valve stem seal had split and the hammer spring was broken.
I had a new spare valve so I decided to update it by improving the gas flow, fitting a brass bush to hold the piercing pin in the middle of the valve tube and fitting an O ring on the valve stem, this I did very simply by recessing the valve back to take an O ring then fitting a bush in the block behind the valve this takes away the problem of trying to drill and tap for small screws to hold a retaining plate.

When finished I had more power for a lower power setting and a stable Fps, which I think is due to better flow through the valve, so all in all very happy.

Al
