This has to be one of my favorite springers. Crossman has really improved
the build quality of these in the last few years. Hi Mom (MKW).

The OEM finish on the stock was way too shiny, so I went over it with
some 0000 steel wool (I prefer a mat or dull finish on a hunting rifle) and
blacked out the forestock screw holes and loading lever slot. I am not
quite sure as to exactly what kind of wood they used but it is gorgeous. It
looks to be some kind of beech as it is a lot heavier than walnut or maple.
It has quite a few sugar striations in it from front...

...to back.

They give it a 3-d look and depending on the illumination and/or viewing
angle they can appear brown...

...or blond.

The OEM trigger was almost unusable. A GTX Gen. II trigger from AOA
and a travel limiter, solved the problem. Now, after a short, 14 ounce first
stage you meet a thin glass wall, second stage that breaks very sharply
at 1lbs, 14 ounces.

I know that the travel limiting screw looks kind of cobby but it is only a
prototype to get the length, angle, diameter and thread pitch right. I have
an internal hex (Allen) set type screw ordered for it so the end product will
not have the big head on it.

I topped it of with a UTG CQB 3-9X32 scope and UTG quick release rings
on a cantilevered (to move the eye relief back) 11mm to weaver adapter.

Inside I installed a Kevlar piston seal and lubed the whole action
with about a half a match head sized dab of moly. Just a very thin
film on everything so as not to reduce velocity from viscosity drag.
It was printing 5" c-t-c at 60 yards with the OEM crown so an
eleven degree re-cut was necessary.

It prints 1.7" c-t-c @ 60 yards. Pushing 14.3gr. Superdomes at an average
of 826 fps. with an average velocity spread of 7.6 fps.

It is very quiet. Especially for the power. I has a very short and smooth
shooting cycle and is not very hold sensitive.

All in all it makes a very good steel can puncher at 60 yards.

Now for some 12 squirrel stew.

I forgot to mention that Pyramyd Air has them on sale reduced from $200
to $169.99 and the triggers are $33.50 after shipping from Airguns of Arizona.

I bought two (one for a friend) and both have the same beautiful furniture.
