I have used a chrono for years for my powder guns and generally set the screen 12 to 15 yards from the muzzle.
One a.g. enthusiest said the screens should be just a few feet from the muzzle to gauge a.g. pel velocity.
What is the general accepted distance from muzzle to screens
for measuring pel velocity?
I chono'd my 1st issue Plain Nitro at 12 yards from the muzzle and gauged the velocity at a little over a disappointing 600 f.p.s.
Wonder if 12 yards was too far from the muzzle?

5 to 6 inches unless you are up around Condor power levels. Then
1 to 3 feet.

I set up my Chrony about a foot from the muzzle.

O.K. then 12 yards isn't necessary at all.
Thanks.
