I just ordered a new beeman p 17.after reading all the reviews and seeing how easy it is to maintain , rebuild n mods, I decided I'd give 1 a try.co2 isn't interesting at 25f so I decided I need to give a pneumatic a try.
Hope its in by the last of this week

You cant get any better value for the money, and they are really accurate. I've had mine about a year, completely stock, and only had it apart once the day I got it ... and that was just 'because'.

Find a pellet it likes, and you'll love it. Be careful of your fingers tho .... it does bite. Smile

I was forewarned by a friend about that pinch factor.I got lots of diffrent pellets to feed it.
And like what you just said open it up n make sure no rough spot in the air transfer porf, lube it proper n tuck its innards back in place.
I am ready for a change in pellet pistols, diana 5g, crossman pumper, crosman something co2 bb pistol, crosman 2240.a pneumatic will be a change for sure

If you get one that hasn't pinched the o-ring, it is a very good pistol. Think about having a seal kit on hand in the event you do end up with a pinched seal.

I'm lucky as I got a huge collection of viton high quality o rings.I work on hydraulic systems a lot and every kit has lots of orings left over.I got a big oring box that indexes them by size both metric and sae size.
I'm thinking open it up n make sure of no burrs or sharp edges at the air port hole.
I like how about 80% of the reviews give it a + rating.far better than most pistols on the market and low price helps too.
If i hit a snag with it, you all be gonna get asked for help...
Likea kid waiting on christmas, hey its almost that time of year.must be my own gift to me from me

I have the same pistol by an earlier name (Marksman 2004). It's a great value. The two problems that I have read about (and also experienced) are the piston seal and the valve stem nut. Both problems happened to me within the first year, but it has been several trouble-free years since the fix.

The piston seal is an "O" ring that wipes past the air inlet port. (When you open the gun to load it you can see the little hole in the cylinder.) If the hole is burred it compromises the "O" ring. Just de-burr with some 600 or 800 grit emery cloth, clean, and wipe the piston walls with a synthetic or silicone grease.

To discharge, the trigger pulls a nut on the valve stem. If that nut works loose the trigger can't pull the stem far enough to fully discharge. A drop of blue Loctite cures the problem.

The gun is a great value, and accurate. You can get all the seals from an automotive parts store. Have fun with it!

Thanks all.I opened it up last night.air intake hole is smooth and examining the piston oring shows no scuff marks.but while I had the piston out I noticed the ends of my piston was sharp.i used a jewelers file and chamfered the edges and used some flix on a buffing pad in my dremmel . Got a nice smooth piston finish.lubed it with white grease I have that comes with oring kits I install in hydraulic systems.after what I did , it was a tad easier to close.and seemed a bit stronger.wish I'd cronied it before and after.
I got some shots in with it today and it groups good with cphp, not so good with crosman destroyers and terrible with daisy wadcutters.next time I'm trying rws super domes and some boxed crosman domes.butfor $44.and some change Iits pretty decent.
