with scope magnification settings?
(If I sight in the scope at 50 yards at 6x magnification should the POI change if I change the magnification to 24x magnification) |

With a low quality scope, most likely yes.
With a high quality scope, most definitely not. |

That's not entirely correct- theoretically it is true, but some parallax problems will appear by turning the magnification ring- i.e. only a small amount based on lens movement, but if someone were to remain completely rigid in respect to rifle position/eye position, some optical parallax will crop up- perhaps not alot, but some.
That being said, how much parallax will be presented as a result of the changing perspective of the eye vs. the reticle- more based on more magnification change, but how much comparing 6x vs 24x at 50 yards I can't say offhand.
Just how much POI change is being talked about here? 1/4" or 2" ? |
