Lookin' good Bob. Nice idea on the sight- did you set-up any sort of crosshair in it? You'd never know by just looking at it that's it's a remnant Co2 caplet.

Are there suppose to be some images here? My laptop hard drive crunched up yesterday, and I'm running a 10 year old desktop at the moment, and it doesn't seem to like photos.

Al

PS:
I just noticed I haven't got any photos anywhere. Bloody computer!

SORTED

Hi Bob you've certainly made a fine job of the 700, and it didn't take you long. What are you doing now? Twiddling your thumbs?

Al

Nice hood solution, and a very good overall job. How does it shoot? Wink

No Al ,
I am going to work on the Sheridan bolt.It is such a pain to grab hold of and open with a scope mounted. I obtained another used bolt to play with.I'v done a little research as to what others have done, knobs on the back and stuff like that .I'll put my little brain to work and see if I can come up with my own design that works well and looks very pleasing to the eye.
As far as shooting the 700 I have not fired it yet.Its so cold out it won't shoot right anyway.CO2's in Michigan winter suck!

Hi Bob,
Nice job on the 700. I have one that was given to me I want to restore. It leaks gas through the breach. I am going to replace the o-rings. Is there a source on line where o can get the correct sizes? Also how did you do the rebluing? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill

As for the bluing I read on the internet how to cold blue.
Metal prep is the key.Standard Birchwood Casey Perma-Blue works just as good as all the other stuff.A heated barrel(150F) takes blue better than a cold one.It usually takes a couple of coats of blue to do the job.Way to much to explain here, the good thing is you can do it over if not happy, they also sell a blue remover.
Just make sure to plug both ends of the barrel that stuff will rust the bore in a heart beat.
Pencil erasers work good and are easy to remove and water proof.

Thanks for the info Bob. It has some minor rust on the barrel & breach. Do you think using Scotch Bright fine pads and the use of a lathe will take care of that?
