I have a number of Sheridan Model 'C' Silver and Blue Streaks in my collection of 'pump-ip' rifles and have a query which I cannot get an authoritative answer to in the UK.
The Model 'C' has two 1mm c/s springs of different sizes and lengths within the intake valve, seperated by a 'floating' washer. What is the reasoning behind using these differently sized springs, and will there be any detrimental effect to the performance/efficiency if these two springs are replaced by just one longer spring? Thanks, Eric

It might be to stop resonance through the spring, like valve springs in a car start to bounce back and forward at high revs and break them not deform with age, perhaps.
