OK guys (and girls), I'm new to guns so take it easy on me. I may ask a really dumb question so please be nice.

My question is - I just purchased an H&K USP CO2 Air Pistol yesterday for target practice. In the instruction manual it says to place one drop of RWS chamber lube or airgun lube on the top of the small end of CO2 capsule before installing it. It also says to apply 1 to 2 drops of RWS spring cylinder oil or airgun lube onto all other moving parts such as the trigger hinge.

I would like to just buy some "airgun lube" since it seems that I can use it on both the CO2 capsule and for lubing the trigger as apposed to buying chamber oil and spring cylinder oil.

Where can I buy some of this oil? Do most gun shops carry it? Do I need to apply the oil to every CO2 capsule that I install? How often should I apply the oil to the trigger hinge and other moving parts?

Thanks for reading and replying to my post.

Chamber oil is for springers- and is pricey (it is all silicone so it can't ignite/detonate). "Airgun lube" could mean just about anything.

For a Co2 gun, you can use Crosman Pellgun Oil (fairly common) or a 30-weight engine oil (non-detergent type)- Co2 can't cause a detonation situation and Pellgun Oil or 30-weight ND oil is alot cheaper than the RWS suggestions.

I asked Crosman about a substitute for Pellgunoil because It was not available in the stores here and they emailed me that one of their engineers said it was the same as automatic transmission fluid.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post.

I went to a local gun shop today and the guy sold me some paintball marker oil. 1 oz for around $3. It is synthetic and he said it is the same stuff they sell for airguns but he was currently out of the airgun oil.

So what do the pros on this forum think? Was this a good buy?

The brand name is "Extreme Rage"

It also says "Distributed Exclusively by PMI. www.BUYPMI.com

And "Lubricates, reduces wear, resists freezing, and 100% synthetic.

It's probably OK for use on a Co2 gun (paintball markers are all Co2 as well). The "synthetic" idea doesn't mean much- it's still going to be flammable- so don't use it as a chamber lube on a springer or with a PCP.

Also, Kee/PMI are one of the larger companies involved in paintball accessories- so their product is also most likely what it is represented to be (some other companies I would be more doubtful). I don't "do" paintball myself- but Kee/PMI has some useful products used for bulking Co2 airguns as well (tanks, hoses, etc.).

Hello everyone, new guy here. I just got myself a colt defender and was wondering if 3 in 1 oil would be ok to use each time I put a new co2 cartridge in. Thanx

I wouldn't persoanlly use 3 in 1 oil. It has solvents in it that could possibly ruin o rings and seals. I would use only pellgun oil. At least that's what I use when I oil up my pistols and CO2 rifles.

I use only about a drop every 5 carts. I think you run a risk of over-oiling with a drop[ every cartridge.

And as mentioned above, automatic transmission fluid is a great substitute for pelgun oil. You get a quart for a couple bucks and it will last you and your kids and your grandkids a lifetime.

Hey guys also new on here, but I bought crossman silicone oil before I got into the phantom p10 bb pistol. Is that type of oil okay for me to use? I also have "Hopes" oil for "all mechanical purposes", is that alright as well?

Thanks!
