Our son Mike, after some bouts with medical problems, recently got engaged to his girlfriend, Amanda. To make a long story short, they entered a contest of competing engaged couples in which the winning couple is awarded a completely paid-for wedding. Amanda and Mike are now in the final 10 couples and this next step in the process requires voting to narrow it down to three couples, who will go on in competition from there.

This appears to us to be a joint marketing project from perhaps a wedding planner-type organization. So far, it appears to be legitimate. Anyway, Amanda and Mike have nothing to lose. If you could take the time to mouse-click a vote in their favor, it would be appreciated.

Here's the website where the voting is now taking place:

www.elevenelevenwedding.com

As you'll see, each of the ten couples in the competition has a brief write-up of their situation as well as their vote totals so far. At this point, Amanda and Mike have managed to maintain a slight lead. The voting deadline is midnight CST on Monday, May 17.

Thanks for your vote(s).

Parents of the groom-to-be.

P.S. If you know anyone else who might want to vote just for the heck of it, that wouldn't hurt either.

Kayon,

Actually, I only posted this to:

Personal friends/addresees in my e-mail address book

This forum (which allows a BS section - a real plus in this case when you think about it)

One local bulletin board-type site which, so far has not proved that productive

Most of the votes shown on the wedding website are a result of these "kids" reaching out to everybody they know (and don't, in some cases) on their "Facebook," "Twitter," and other "social interaction" sites.

Although it seems that right now, they have a comfortable lead, this voting has been going on since Monday (5/10) and the lead has flipped around several times. At one point, Amanda and Mike were in fourth place. You can bet everyone in this thing is pulling out all stops in trying to gather votes.

Well, the voting is officially over. With over 16,200 votes cast, Mike and Amanda finished in first place! This is in no small part to all of you who took the time to throw a vote their way.

As of midnight last night (when the polls closed) the final tally on

www.elevenelevenwedding.com

stood as follows:

First place - Mike & Amanda, 2,949
Second – 2,856
Third – 2,710
And so on down through the rest of the 10 finalists:
2,119
1,285
1,119
1,071
929
880
308

Total votes cast = 16,226.

Once again, thanks a bunch to everyone who participated. Each of your votes helped.
