I happened to notice every time I viewed a post its view counter raised by two instead of one...I did several "tests" to convince myself it wasn't just coincidence that someone else viewed the topic at the same time I did. Anyone else notice this?
My test consists of clicking on a topic, immediately hitting the back button and then refreshing the page...the view counter always increases by at least two (and normally exactly two...a good test is to use a really old post). |

Either someone else is viewing the post, or your browser is doing something funky- it is counting correctly when I test it.
Skip the "back" button and look at a post, then click the menu bar line (above the gray/blue line in the forum menu) to return to the forum- if your browser settings are correct, it should then update the number of "views" and be correct. |

It appears to have nothing to do with the back button. For some reason it is requesting the page twice when I click on a link (which would cause counter to hit twice), I verified by using http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/ and watching the HTTP traffic. This happens in both IE and Firefox. It didn't appear to happen every time, but most of the time it did. I tried it on two different computers w/same results. I also tried another (non airgun related) forum www.helifreak.com (another one of my hobby vices) but didn't notice anything similar.
Not like it really matters, but it is interesting to note that I'm adding two hits every time I view a topic.
*Edit* I suppose it would matter to AirgunEric who has to pay the bandwidth costs...sending each page twice is not too efficient |

I can't explain it- Firefox works fine, and no one else has mentioned this (the vast majority of people are using IE).
Is it possible you have the click speed on your mouse set a bit too fast? Perhaps a nervous twitch? |

I cannot explain it- it has not been doing it for me (I also don't use the newest version of any browser, too many defects on initial releases).
What version of FireFox are you guys running? |

| I'm running 3.5.7, the newest (or at least relatively new) version. |

| I'm using Firefox 3.6 primarily, but also saw similar issue in IE 8.0.7600. It has not happened in Google Chrome 4.0 once though. Although it appears to have something to do with the client browser (since it didn't happen in Chrome), it also appears to have something to do with www.airgunhome.com as I've not seen it happen w/any other site, in any browser. |

Well, I'm using 3.0.9- never had such an issue.
It is indeed the browsers. The problem with any of this is that different browsers will act differently with websites- the newer the browser, the more they get hung up on the "new and exciting" and proper backwards compatibility often gets ignored somewhat.
Really, there's not a thing I can do about it other than constantly trying to have the newest version of bulletin board software online- at great time and expense, in order to keep up with the lazy programmers of the newest browsers- or not. In this case as this is not an epic problem or issue, "not" will be prevailing I'm afraid. |
