Air Compressors cost about $1.00 per psi developed, just as a rough guide.... For a PCP you will want a compressor that does at least 3000 psi, so be prepared to spend about $3000....

After noting the motor spec's. I see its not built for use in North America. The U.S. and Canada both have 60Hz electrical systems not the 50Hz used in Europe and many other places. |

I don't have one if I did then I would have a PCP airgun, also considering that in the UK one costs £2000, that’s an awfully lot of springers/Co2 guns you could buy.

What the barrier is to an affordable compressor? How tough could it be? I'm sure it would be a low volume sales thing, but some enterprising chap should go after it. Right now, they are basically for airgun millionares. |

I've been pondering what it would take to automate an off the shelf hand pump.
I don't have one yet, but it can't be that difficult to mount a high pressure hand pump to an electric motor, or perhaps to lower pressure air cylinders, running off a standard pressure compressor (100 to 150 psi).
Just a thought... I have not run the numbers on it yet, but it seems possible. |

I was reading about this and if I am understanding correctly the problem comes in when you pump too fast with a hand pump it is not able to handle the load and you get too much moisture in the cylinder. |

It's been done.... I think it was FX that used to sell one.... but they have discontinued it.... It worked OK for filling a gun, but people abused it by trying to fill SCUBA tanks.... overheated the pump and wore it out....
There was a thread a while back on this forum about building one.... and a pics of a conversion kit someone made and was selling for about $500 and you still had to buy the hand pump (another $300 for a good one)....
It is rumoured that Crosman will be bringing out one designed for airgunning in the $500 price range.... If that happens, it will be very popular....

That was the one I was thinking of Al.... but I was LOW on the price.... It would be over $1000 including pump by the time you shipped it....
