So, got my new 2240 today via UPS YAY !! Gotta say, I was surprised to see it packaged in plastic hang-on-the-wall el cheapo looking....got it out, cleaned it up and put a cartridge in it..started working on sighting it in which took about 8-19 shots. So, from a rest here's the best 5 shot group I got, little thing is pretty accurate..I obviously pulled one though:::

And to think, that was with the stock open sights...not bad for a shakey ol' man Cool Shot at 10 meters-- ONE thing though that really sucks big time...only got 31 shots and it was done....I would swear under oath that I've read that they got 60-70 shots per cartridge with medium weight pellets..mine are Daisy wadcutters (my order hasn't got here yet, so had to use these)..SO, is this about the normal range?? about 30 shots per cylinder?? If so, I may be selling this thing quick!! And to think I just spent $36.00 to order a red dot scope for it , too Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Pistol overall is a LOT of fun, I got my pellet trap today also, so I'm shooting inside where it's warm for better CO2 performance..but 30 shots per. cylinder just really sucks IMO.

Not stock they don't.... your 31 shots is not unusual.... The 2240 is loud because it wastes a lot of CO2 on every shot.... but Crosman sells CO2, so I guess that makes sense.... Shocked

Get yourself a Rear Velocity Adjuster (RVA) and start backing out the spring tension until you lose velocity.... or pick up a second hammer spring, clip a coil off to start, and then cut about a 1/4 coil at a time until you start to lose velocity.... Then back up a step and cut your second spring to that length.... Don't confuse noise with velocity.... Wink

I've never use one, but I understand a Hammer Debounce Device (HDD) will also conserve CO2.... particularly if you don't reduce the hammer spring tension.... I seriously doubt if you need both.... Rolling Eyes

OK....the spring thing is probably the way I'll go...what is the order of dis-assembly to get to said hammer spring?... couldn't be too difficult..just from looking, it seems to be a really simple design.
Where do I get another hammer spring? from Crosman? Thanks .

Thanks Brutuz..do you happen to know if the rear adjuster from a 2300S would work? Might be easier to go that route, don't ya think?? According to Crosman website , the Adjuster Assembly part number 2300-124, is available from Crosman..so which way is better? thanks...-Rodger

That link is non-productive as there are no pictures showing in it!

It does, you can read the experience from someone else that did the same mod.

Pics can only be seen after joining. The attachment service is an appreciated pro.

Some boards are not open to read until after registering.

Are you holding a grudge towards me Eric?

? I will be if questions like that come up.

Nowhere does it state someone must "join" to see the pictures- they simply don't appear; thus without this information, the link appears useless.

That being said- anyone posting things up which are purely oriented to force people from here to join somewhere else don't sit right with me. I have been accommodating with people linking to other forums and blogs- but when it gets to the point where people are forced to join another forum merely to get the technical information they have requested here- I start to get a bit riled up. More forums bleed away from the existing forums, which, if there is a definable purpose to new forum, great- but if their is no definable reason for more forums, I start to get a bit offended.

Ok if that's your point of view I promise not to link to another board again.

I cannot edit the post in which I posted the link, feel free to edit and delete anything posted after that particular post. I've edited the screendump to the pic only which may be insterted in the post with the details of the Crosman Company.

I appologise for thinking you were holding a grudge, Airgunhome has alway felt like a home to me and it will stay that way to me.

There's no problem posting links- it's the "forced registration" that is an issue in order to get the complete picture. This is no problem in a self-contained environment, but gets tiring when people are "pushed" there from another forum. You may want to look at it from the administration point-of-view as well- 95% of people who register to see one topic will not likely come back again.

Brutuz--as usual, thanks for the info and the quick response, will call today and get parts ordered. I know you order a lot of stuff from the gmaccustomparts site...has some great stuff, but logistically speaking;ie, being in another country, just makes sense , to me, to "shop locally".

ERIC--- I'm with ya all the way. I HATE sites that require you to register/join just to look at one particular thing..in fact, I just hit the "BACK" key and go on about my business if Brutuz hadn't posted that picture, I would never have seen it, I AM NOT going to register on a site unless I WANT TO..it will not be forced upon me, period !!! Once I found this site, I knew I "was home" !! I mean, I surf around just to see what I can see, all men do that, we are "grazers" by our very nature... so far this site has answered my every need (and then some).

Well, I tried to order parts Saturday,,,naturally they were closed ..DUUH ! So, will get 'em ordered this morning...now, while I'm at it wouldn't this be perfect time to go with longer barrel? Can I convert it to .177 by just buying barrel for a 2300T (Crosman 10.1 inch) or would I need a new breech and bolt? Seems like I've read that there's no need to change breech and bolt, but I wanna make sure . Want to keep costs down as it's only a $50.00 gun to begin with. If I would need new breech and bolt , I'll just go with 10.1 inch Crosman in .22. I mean, one of the reasons I bought this cheapest model was to tear it apart, try my hand at modifying the valve and stuff for higher performance. I just HAVE to try my hand at it Please let me know about part numbers and such, and I'll be able to order all the stuff I'd need at one time. I apologize for being such a pest....I have read everything I can find about this stuff, but some things just aren't clear to me....but, I never claimed to be the "sharpest crayon in the box" Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Thanks...
