I have read Cw's and Slavia report's on the work done to this pistol.
Yesterday I acquired one that will not fire after it is cocked.
I do not think nothing is striking the valve to open it.
I see where I should check the valve nut to see if it came loose.
But before I take the right pistol grip completely off do you have any warnings suggestions I might look out for?? Such as flying springs,or other parts. Will the trigger group stay with the pistol? or will some parts come with the right grip?
I took the screw out and peeked in there to see what I had to deal with.I was afraid to go any further until I get a little help form someone who has opened one of these up.
Also what is the allen screw in the trigger blade for??
And is the action/pump assembly attached to the trigger group somehow? I have removed the drift pins to remove the piston/pump assembly and it will not come out the top, something is holding it in the rear???

Thanks for any help before I have a mess on my hands (AGAIN LOL)

You need to remove the right side handgrip and remove the trigger group. The valve stem pull nut is hanging up on the hammer.

Once you remove the trigger group, the cylinder should come out easy. Once the cylinder is out, the safety can be easily pulled out for modification if desired.

Hope that this helps. Reassembling the P17 trigger group can be rather frustrating at best.

If your pistol will not fire, the most likely cause
is that said nut has become loose or come
completely off of the valve stem. If the nut is
not on the valve stem far enough or missing,
the hammer has no way of pulling the valve
open. I've had three come in with this problem.

The screw in the trigger adjusts the trigger
travel so that the sear breaks right at the second
stage. On some of these the sear will break well
into the second stage (second stage creep). In
that case the edge of the hammer sear can be
filed down to move the sear's breaking point
closer to the very begining of the second stage.

C-dub ,
I opened her up with care while peeping thru the grip crack as I gently pried it open making sure everything stayed in place.Once opened just like you said the valve nut had backed its self damn near all the way off the stem.
While open I gave it a very nice trigger job with stone and 600 wet sand paper & moly.I left the safety alone I kinda like auto safety's,once you get used to them there OK in my book.
Once I put her back together I had to shoot it.I went out to the garage and grabbed my Chrony and small duct seal filled trap.I tried some Walmart Crosman 7.9gr wadcutters,a 10 shot string reveled 430,427,415,424 427,420,421,416,427,428 thats some amazingly close numbers for a cheap gun.I'm going to have to call the guy I got from and ask what has been done to the valve ,I know it came from a pro tuner.Does the xtra weight glued pellets) in your grip help balance yours a little??Tomorrow I plan to put a red dot on it,but with open sights I was shooting 20 foot dime sized groups.I can't go much further in the house,I'm afraid that silly Morning Dove I have as a pet will come flying into my line of sight.

Thanks again for your quick response and help.I owe you one!!

Yes, it does - especially with the added weight of the BSA red dot up front.

If you've read the earlier posts, then you know to de-burr the air entry hole in the side of the cylinder. That's probably the only "defect" that needs to be cured. On the plus side, all the seals in the gun are "O" rings that can be found at an automotive parts place.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Very nice! I am constantly amazed how well it performs for a cheap gun with a questionable family name.
