If you go to daisy.com, click on the 880, then go to specs it says 661 fps with a pellet.

Well that is not what mine shoots, and mine is a new one. Also in the manual (download the PDF and look) ...

Daisy lists the specs on the 880 as 750fps, and up until the last couple years, Daisy was pretty good about publishing accurate numbers. That being said, the last 2 years or so, they have been "e ...

But come on, 661 f.p.s. out of a 7.9 grain pellet?

What is wrong with your 880? Try 706FPS with a 7.9 grain =8.7FPE. Though with Winchester 9.68 grain pointed pellets we are talking about 668 ...

I believe the "rule" is typically 1fpe per pound of game. If the 880 can get to 9fpe, theoretically it should be able to take down a rabbit- but that is dependent of if it's still retaining ...

I've probably been doing this a lot longer than you have, and I definitely know more about airguns.

I have been hunting with Airguns since 1986(before they outlawed it in many areas, now they are ...

A daisy is NOT powerful enough to hunt with. You are full of it. Anything under 6ft lbs AT THE TARGET with a smoothbore is not powerful enough to hunt with. I've probably been doing this a lot longer ...

I am looking for the references. Though there are certain constants that effect the spiraling regardless of pellet. Obviously some pellets will have a better time of it though all will loose accurac ...

I would imagine that that pellet is heavy enough in that gun. Have you chronied it?

Also it is usually best to try many many pellets to see what the gun likes best. Each gun will be a bit diff ...

I would have to disagree with some of the content posted above- 850fps is not a "barrier" to accuracy- the only 'rule' in that respect is turbulence around the speed of sound- i.e. 1020-ish ...

I have found it is easier to reduce the head space to near zero with a cup piston than with a Flat Top. My 2289 that has a Cup piston is shooting right at 11.6FPE=604FPS on 10 pumps with Crosman Prem ...
