Would one of the glue sticks work for gluing the target to cardboard? They are very inexpensive.

Absolutely. Anything that sticks the target to the cardboard will work nicely.

Yea, there is some recoil. But the 1 piece scope mount has a screw that should stop movement.

The issue is not that there is "some recoil" but that the recoil occurs in *both* directions ...
